Four Wheeler magazine announced the selection of the all-new Nissan Titan pickup as the "2004 Pickup Truck of the Year," beating out the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra Double Cab. The Titan is Nissan's first entry into the full-size truck market and went on sale in early December 2003 at Nissan dealerships nationwide. "Nissan has hit a home run with the Titan," said Four Wheeler Features Editor Craig Perronne. "It is hard to find fault with the Titan as it has gobs of power, handles well, rides nicely and does well off in the dirt."
The trucks were tested for several days on the track, pavement and dirt and judged in five categories: mechanical, interior, exterior, highway and trail. The Titan won with a score of 41,121, outscoring second place by 2,964 points.
A notable feature liked by the Four Wheeler staff was the Titan's powerful Nissan Endurance V8 engine.
